ISO Complaints Microchip: Many countries required a 15-digit ISO for recognition of the pet. The 15-digit microchip is the standard, and if you are travelling to an EU country and your pet wants a 9-10 digit microchip, you can choose to have the 15-digit microchip if you are travelling with your microchip scanner. The pet’s owner usually decides beforehand when to use a microchip for proper tracking. The system will register the microchip internationally for the retrieval of information if required in the future.

Titer testing

The second step in pet shipping internationally is titer testing. A titer test, also known as an antibody titer test, measures the level of antibodies in your pet’s blood. It is decided whether your pets have disease or immunity to it.

The titer test examines a pet’s immune system against certain diseases like rabies to determine additional vaccination if needed. Some countries like rabies-free countries such as Mexico, Western Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan require a titer test before allowing the pet to fly. Conduct a titer test within two to three months post-travel. Some countries require a waiting period after testing. Only laboratory-approved testing will be allowed for pet shipping.

Vaccination

The third step in pet relocation is vaccination requirements for relocation. Each destination has its guidance for relocation, generally including core vaccinations. Veterinarians recommend core vaccines for all pets, such as cats and dogs, that are shifting. They protect pets from life-threatening diseases and help prevent the spread of these diseases to other pets and people. Rabies Vaccination The rabies vaccine is a safe and effective way to prevent rabies. A veterinarian can administer it before or after exposure to rabies.

Some countries required booster shots even though the pet vaccination is up to date. The pet owner must provide the documentation to maintain the pet petpassport or official health certificate.

Health certificate

The last step in the pet shipping is final consideration of the health certificate, government approval, and quarantine regulation. A health certificate for a dog is a document that states the dog is healthy, free of contagious diseases, and vaccinated. It’s often required for travel.
